Dear Friends,
On Sunday, we hear two stories about making demands of God. The book of Hebrews describes Jesus as our high priest who prayed to God with loud cries and tears. In the gospel from Mark, the disciples demand that Jesus give them places of high status and honor. Together, these scriptures invite us to consider our own prayers—are they expressions of vanity or need? How do we pray—and why? I’ll speak to these questions in a sermon that I’m calling, “Prayers and Supplications.” I hope to see you in worship on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.
Grace and peace,
Chris

Neighbors in Need Special Mission Offering
Sunday, 10/20/2024
| |
In 2024, the Neighbors in Need theme is “Mental Health Justice For All!” This year’s focus is on Mental Health Justice. In 2015, the General Synod of the United Church of Christ passed a resolution to become WISE (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, and Engaged) for mental health.
A just world for all is a world where the human rights and well-being of people with mental health challenges are respected, no matter who you are or where you are in life’s mental health journey.
Contributions to this offering will be collected on Sunday 10/13 and 10/20. We thank you for your support and generosity.
