Christian Outreach Board held their annual “drive-by” collection in support of Anchor of Hope Diaper Bank on November 5, 2022 at Central Congregational Church, 14 Titcomb St, Newburyport MA 01950. . Anchor of Hope Diaper Bank provides free diapers to families in need through already existing agencies and organizations. Families are struggling financially now more than ever. The amount of red tape required to apply for assistance is burdensome, undignified, and arbitrary. Providing occasional diapers goes a long way since there are no other resources available to families to secure them. Diapers and wipes cannot be purchased with food stamps. Local thrift stores or used clothing sites do not carry them or carry only very few. Families with day care are required to provide diapers to the provider for the upcoming week or month, placing even more stress on the family’s limited income. Dollars saved from the purchase of diapers can go towards utility bills or rent.
