Worship begins at 10:30 on Sunday mornings
Join us for Sunday worship. We gather together to worship, pray, sing, listen to Scripture and hear from Central’s pastor, the Rev. Chris Ney. On the first Sunday of each month, you are welcome to share in Communion. The Chancel Choir, led by Music Director Michael Hamill, offers exceptional musical selections. They lead the congregation in singing hymns and spirituals. The Gospel Choir and Youth Choir sing during worship each month. We hear three Scripture readings usually chosen according to the Revised Common Lectionary,
All three entrances to Central Church have accessible ramps. For your convenience we have large print worship bulletins, large print Bibles and hearing assistance devices. Ushers are available to assist you.
Childcare during worship is available for small children in the nursery located off the narthex (front entrance hall). If you need to comfort your child you are welcome in the nursery, where speakers allow you to hear the service. We have a carpeted space in the rear of the sanctuary for adults with young children. You are invited to sit, rock and soothe your child during the service.
Sunday School classes are arranged as follows: Pre-K and Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade and 6th-8th grade. Children begin in church with their parents; after the Children’s Message teachers will lead them upstairs to Sunday School. The Youth Choir is open to all children. They rehearse most weeks after Sunday School and sing in worship once a month. Keri Kurgun, Director of Christian Education, is happy to answer your questions.
We hope your experience is meaningful and that it gives you a sense of the community gathered at Central. If you are a visitor please sign the guest book in the entrance and introduce yourself to the pastor, a deacon or any member.
Our commitment as an Open and Affirming Congregation
We, the congregation of Central Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, declare ourselves to be an Open and Affirming congregation. With the grace of God, we commit ourselves to being a congregation that includes all persons, embracing diversity and not restricting participation because of gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age, mental and physical ability, as well as racial, ethnic and socio-economic background.
We welcome all persons, whether members or non-members, to share in the full life and ministry of this church including fellowship, worship, sacraments and ceremonies and celebrations; in the shared responsibilities of stewardship and living in a covenantal relationship; in the shared blessings of the right to marry or celebrate a commitment to a person of one’s choosing, in the right to celebrate a loved one’s life in a memorial service; and to receive pastoral care.
